« Karukera is an EP with Creole Jazz/French Antilles influences (Mazurka, Biguine, Creole waltz, Quadrille...). This opus is an opportunity for me to present warm sounds on traditional rhythmic references from the French West Indies (Guadeloupe, Martinique). A client with an eye for the great names of traditional Caribbean music and a return to the roots.

Karukera is essentially instrumental, based on 4 instruments, drums, piano, electric piano (Rhodes) and electric bass. The peculiarity of these pieces is based on simple melodies that I worked on my piano. For all these works, I first started with the drum part for traditional musical sources, then I added the other instruments for the groove.

I'm very satisfied with the result, because the complete works were created by programming with Logic Pro X (especially the drum part which took me the most time) using the sample banks of instruments produced by Native Instruments.

A new creative and innovative challenge to create something new, to revive Caribbean music with my own inspirations.
